Absent Form

Beneath boughs blackened by time, the spirit waits—patient and bare of face. The mother rots and awaits the litany of the disembodied. Her cloak, untouched by wind or hand, hangs heavy with vestige. Each leaf murmurs her dirge. Each root clutches her vow. Those who witness become echo. They become hymn.
